Mt.Gox
Mt. Gox was a Tokyo-based cryptocurrency exchange that operated from 2010 to 2014. It was originally founded as a platform for trading Magic: The Gathering Online cards by Jed McCaleb, then sold to Mark Karpelès who ran it under Tibanne Ltd. The exchange handled a large share of Bitcoin trades worldwide before abruptly halting operations in February 2014 and filing for bankruptcy protection amid the loss/theft of hundreds of thousands of bitcoins. Since then, Mt. Gox has undergone bankruptcy/liquidation and creditor rehabilitation processes, with ongoing proceedings related to reimbursements for creditors. (en.wikipedia.org)
